Match report: Farnborough FC vs Tooting and Mitcham; Sunday 29th January 2012

Farnborough FC faced a good Tooting and Mitcham side, who tried to pass the ball and had already beaten Hawley earlier in the season.

The game started with very little space in midfield and few clear cut chances, until T&M tried to play out from the back and some good pressing from our front players forced the error for Ollie to score with a strong finish across the keeper.

Farnborough FC then settled well and the chances started to come. The best chance fell to Harry Small from a set piece, which hit the under-side of the bar. Not quite sure how it stayed out.

Just before half time Adam made a great save, diving to his left, when a T&M player went clear.

Some of Farnborough's attacking play was scintillating and a superb pass from Tom put Ryan through, only for his effort across the keeper to go narrowly wide.

Farnborough did score just before half time, with a lovely cross field move. Harry S won the ball, played into Ollie who switched the play from right to left, putting in Ryan, who squared for Callum, who had made a 50 yard run into the box. A superb goal.

Half time 2-0 to Farnborough.

Farnborough FC started slowly in the second half and T&M scored after 5 minutes with a move on the counter attack, exploiting a gap in the centre of the Farnborough FC defence.

However, Farnborough FC responded positively with their third goal from Tom and Callum put Farnborough FC 4-1 up 5 minutes before the end with a soft shot that sneaked into the corner.

In between there was some brilliant movement from the front players; brave and organised defending and strong midfield play to win the ball early and set up attacks.

Some of our players today looked unplayable: defenders who gave the opposition nothing and forwards with an ability to run at the opposition and create mayhem! Great support from the touchline gave us the "12th man!"
