Match Report v Links Sun 22 Jan - Surrey Youth Premier League

After a fantastic cup game against the Epsom Eagles the boys were back in action in the league with a home game against Links - a team who caused us a couple of problems inelude previous encounter. The team were more than confident they could keep up the good run in the league though.

Farnborough settled quicker and Joe Monk had the chance to put us 1-0 to the good but his first touch was just too far and he couldn't quite make the angle putting the ball into the side netting. Approaching half time we did however take the lead when Joe M put Tom B through with a great ball. With the ball bouncing and the opposition GK rushing out, Tom just lifted the ball over his head into an empty net for a cool finish. Half time and 1-0.

The second half started with Josh O'Reilly feeling a pull and having to come off and then Josh Evans being subbed for his injured knee. Harry S reverted to centre back with Okey and settled well with Ryan moving to right back and James D going on the left. The new look back 4 however were steady and defended well.

Ollie then put us 2-0 to the good when Joe M beat the offside trap and squared the ball for Ollie to calmly slot home. The next 2 goals were were from long distance but we are not sure the first one was meant. Ryan ran down the wing from right back and put a great cross over to the far post. The GK totally misjudged the flight of the ball and the ball ended up in the top far corner for a great goal. Still not sure you meant that Ryan but a good goal anyway. Callum then scored the goal of the game when he ran with the ball at his feet and shot from fully 25 yards into the top corner for a great finish. Ed, Matt C and Scott were passing the ball around lovely but there were no further goals and the game finished with a sound 4-0 victory. Still unbeaten in the league. Well done lads.
