Farnborough FC Elite Under 14s - week 3

A good training session on "Defending," on Friday was followed by  a massive win on Sunday versus SYL Premier Elite opposition - Kingstonian. It sounds like Kingstonian are a new club and are bedding in a lot of new players. Still, Farnborough FC  Elite under 14s can only beat the teams put in front of them and there will be tougher challenges ahead.

After last week against Carshalton Athletic, I was pleased to see that the boys did not ease up this week and kept the scoring rate going to the end. There was some woeful finishing in the first half in particular and on many occasions it would have been easier to score. I hope this game has got the wastefulness out of our systems. That said, if you create as many chances as we did today, the law of averages says that you're bound to miss more! I am being very generous now, of course!

Still, I view the team as very much "work in progress" and there is much, much more to do on the training ground as we look to improve in all areas. We'll know when we're the real deal, when we take apart high calibre opposition...and this group of players will definitely get there. If they don't it's a coaching issue and I'm sure that Kenny will fall on his sword ;-)

Thanks again for some great support. We have most of our kit now, so we look the part and the lights are up, so we can train at Bisley. It feels like our season is starting to take shape and our team of players, coaches and parents is starting to gel.

All the best,

Paul Cook.
