Farnborough FC Elite - week 2

After a good result last weekend against Sutton Utd last week, confidence and team spirit are high. If anything, we all need to guard against complacency as leagues and cups are not won in September. Training on Friday was "average," as I try different formats out. Our playing style is built on possession, so we need to win the ball back quickly and use it creatively to get forward at pace. This will be a theme that we develop over the coming weeks. Carshalton Athletic were up for the game today, as they saw our result from last week. Any opposition in this league is always going to tackle hard and quickly, so we need to match that, without getting drawn into any ugly stuff. Once we have the ball, I'm confident that we will use it better than the opposition. We went in at half time today two up without playing particularly well, I thought. The second half was much better, because we did win the ball back more quickly, gave the opposition less space when they were in possession and we played a simple, direct passing game. That said, Adam was superb again today in goal, pulling off two top class saves...even though he was a spectator for most of the match...and Callum's left foot curler that hit the post deserved better. Two highlights for me. So, onto next week when we play Kingstonian in the league cup, who are a Premier Elite side (one division above us). This will be a test, but as our new team starts to gel, I'm sure we can do well.
