In a well contested and closely fought match, Leatherhead Youth FC came out as deserved winners, although at 2-2 with a minute to go, Farnborough Elite FC looked to have taken the match to extra time.
Leatherhead started with more possession and more territorial advantage, but Farnborough Elite FC looked dangerous on the break.
Ollie Murray had a good chance early on to put us one up when he found himself with just the keeper to beat, but he thought about it too long and failed to hit the target.
After about 15 minutes, Leatherhead looked certain to score, but somehow Adam pulled off a blinding save when he stopped a shot at close range and then as the player was about to finish the follow-up he managed to get a hand to the ball and clear it away.
Leatherhead then took the lead when from a corner when Farnborough failed to clear and the Leatherhead centre-half turned well and drilled an unstoppable shot past Adam to put them 1-0 to the good.
Both teams had chances to score but just before half-time Farnborough Elite FC levelled from a Scott B corner. He whipped a great cross in only for everybody to miss it, apart from Josh O'Reilly who sneaked round the back to score from close range. Half time and 1-1.
Subs at half time saw Karl, Josh E, James D and Tom B come on for Okey, Joe M, Adam and Harry S. The second half continued as the first half with neither team putting their hold on the game with both teams only creating half chances. The ball was in the air a lot and the swirling wind made life difficult for defenders.
Leatherhead did seem to be a bit more composed on the ball at times and this composure saw them go 2-1 up when their right winger was given enough space to turn and drilled a great shot accross the goal into the far corner giving Karl no chance.
Our forward 3 where still having enough chances to penetrate the Leatherhead defence with Ollie working hard against a good left back to try and create some good chances. With about 10 minutes to go, James D opened his account for Farnborugh FC when Scott B picked the ball up on the left, crossed it only for Tom B to flick it on and James came round the back to finish well and put us back level.
Both teams had a chance to win it when, in the final minute, Leatherhead got a free kick just outside the box over on the right wing. Their winger hit a cracking shot which moved in the wind to put them 3-2 to the good. With our heads down Leatherhead scored the final goal of the game in injury time to give them a 4-2 win and a place in the final.
